The EXTRA STRONG Self-Tanning Lotion for the body acts with a highly effective vegan formula that is paraben- and paraffin-free, with a TOP combination of 100% natural origin active ingredients: The DHA tanning activator and erythrulose, which combine to act as an optimal complex of active ingredients for self-tanning.

The chemical reaction of active ingredients and the first signs of their action can be seen within a few hours after the application, but the final depth of colour develops within 6 to 24 hours after applying the self-tanning lotion. The tanning speed and intensity depend on you, too, from the thickness and precision of application to preliminary preparations of the skin; the final colour is also affected by the protein content of your skin. More protein in the horny layer of the skin can increase the tanning intensity produced by the self-tanning product. It’s therefore difficult to speak of uniform effects on the skin, as the result will differ from one person to another.

The formula also contains excellent moisturisers of 100% natural origin that make sure the skin is lastingly and intensively hydrated throughout the self-tanning process: well-conditioned, toned, firm and glowing with a healthy tan.

The EXTRA STRONG Self-Tanning Lotion contains a combination of active cosmetic ingredients that is optimal for self-tanning – erythrulose and the DHA activator. This combination achieves fast colouring (DHA) and the most natural tan (erythrulose).

• DIHYDROXYACETONE: DHA self-tanning activator or the ingredient that gives colour to the skin. DHA is obtained from glycerol through microbial fermentation, and is the simplest ketonic form of sugar. It’s generated in the body in the process of metabolising carbohydrates, which is why it’s natural to the human body. DHA reacts with amino acids in the outermost layer of the epidermis (stratum corneum), which creates a reaction that produces pigments (melanoidins) which give our skin a darker colour.

• ERYTHRULOSE: another 100% natural self-tanning activator that works similarly to DHA, but provides a significantly more natural and even skin tan. Its action is slower, as erythrulose takes longer to react with the skin’s proteins (the colour develops within two days), but the self-tanning effect lasts longer. Your tan fades much slower and more evenly, keeping the natural tan look throughout.

• BETAINE: With a name originating from the fact that it’s a beetroot extract, betaine is a 100% natural moisturiser that regulates osmosis in cells. In simpler terms, it helps the cells to absorb and retain water. By doing so, it protects skin cells from external factors and thermal stress (dehydration), establishing and maintaining the moisture balance. Strengthens the epidermal barrier, intensively moisturises the skin and protects it from drying out.

Make sure to follow these steps for the best results and most beautiful tan: 

• Before the first application do a thorough body scrub, preferably with the Summer Affair 5-in-1 Premium Body Scrub. This will remove any dead cells, ensure a more even surface and make sure the self-tanning lotion gives the most even effect possible.

• Pay particular attention to areas where the skin is drier (elbows, ankles, knees, feet). Apply a moisturising cream or lotion to these areas, but make sure the moisturising product you use is oil-free. This will prevent the drier areas from absorbing too much colour and becoming darker than the rest of your body.

• Apply an even layer of the self-tanning lotion on cleansed and thoroughly dried skin, massaging it with circular motions until fully absorbed. Circular motions will ensure the product is well-distributed on the skin, with no visible transitions. Be careful to always apply the product on dry skin, as wet skin can negatively affect the final result.

• The application doesn’t require wearing gloves, as it’s a light moisturising emulsion that spreads beautifully and is fast-absorbing, which is why the colour effect is not instant. But remember – you must wash your hands thoroughly after the application.

• Finally, apply lotion to the wrists and the backs of the hands, including the fingers (leave the palms free). Wash your hands thoroughly after use, but try to wash only your palms, as that’s where you don’t want the colour to develop.

• To avoid any marks or blemishes, be especially careful on your ankles, wrists, knees and elbows. Apply the lotion with precision, as evenly as possible, massaging it well into the skin.

• Would you like a more intensive tan? Re-apply the self-tanning lotion after at least 24 hours. You can re-apply it whenever you’d like a deeper tan. The product is suitable for morning or evening use, with noticeable effects 6 to 8 hours after application.

• For perfect results and an even tan, it’s advisable to remove all unwanted hair by shaving or depilating before applying the lotion. Do this at least 24 hours before application.

• It’s advisable to start applying the self-tanning lotion on your feet and ankles. Apply it on your ankles first, gradually moving up your legs, torso and shoulders. Apply the lotion on your arms at the very end. Applying the lotion from your ankles up prevents the formation of strange lines and stains caused by you bending over to reach your legs and feet.

• If you notice that you’ve applied too much lotion on some parts of your body, act immediately. You can use moisturising wipes or cotton balls soaked in toner or water to wipe away any excess lotion in critical areas.

• Maintain your new tan with care: to extend your beautiful tan after self-tanning, nurture your skin intensively with a high-quality moisturising lotion that will help prolong your new tan and seductive complexion.

• Palms present a particular problem when it comes to using self-tanning products. To avoid brown palms, use a generous layer of moisturising cream on them before using the self-tanning lotion. Then be sure to thoroughly wash your palms with soap after you finish applying the lotion.

• Although the lotion doesn’t leave traces on clothes, be careful and always wait at least 5 minutes to allow it to really absorb into the skin and make sure the skin is dry to the touch before putting any clothes on. This way you’ll avoid any stains on clothes, and your skin will be evenly tanned wherever you applied the lotion.
